About us

The German Saturday School caters for children from pre-school to secondary level (VCE), and is located in Melbourne’s inner north-eastern suburb of Clifton Hill. Our students range in age from 4 to 18 years old, and attend the school on Saturdays during the normal school term. Almost all of our teachers are native German speakers and have recognised qualifications. The school caters for both students with German language background and those without.

The German Saturday School is a non-profit organisation that is run, organised and administered by an annually elected parents’ committee. It is financed through student fees which are subsidised by the Victorian Department of Education and the Ethnic Schools Association of Victoria.

Generally, lessons combine grammar, writing, cultural projects as well as games and fun activities. We include an annual excursion with a German cultural focus and end of school year Christmas concert. Other highlights of the school year are the annual Christmas party and the German breakfast at the AGM.
